Climb Artesonraju
Expedition to Artesonraju (6,025 m) - The Pyramid of Huascarán National Park
It is considered the mountain that represents the Paramount Pictures logo. Artesonraju has two main climbing routes - the first runs through the north ridge from the Santa Cruz valley, while the second ascends the southeast face from Laguna Parón. The logical routes on this mountain in the middle of a perfect pyramid make Artesonraju a mountain of great satisfaction as a goal in the Cordillera Blanca.
Itinerary
Day 1:Huaraz (3,052 m) - Caraz - Lake Parón - Base Camp (4,300 m)
Departure from Huaraz by private vehicle heading north, to the picturesque city of Caraz. We continue along a winding road that ascends towards the imposing lagoon Parón, the largest in the Cordillera Blanca, surrounded by snow-capped peaks such as Pirámide, Artesonraju and Chacraraju. From here, we begin a 4 to 5 hour approach hike along the lagoon and gently ascending towards our Base Camp, with privileged views of the Artesonraju massif. Meals included - packed lunch and dinner
Day 2:Base Camp (4,300 m) - High Camp Artesonraju (5,400 m)
Ascent day with full equipment. We cross the lateral moraine and enter the glacier, advancing in rope teams to overcome the crevasses. The landscape becomes increasingly vertical and challenging. We establish High Camp on an ice platform at the foot of the Southeast route, preparing everything for the final summit push. Meals included - Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner
Day 3:High Camp (5,400 m) - Artesonraju Summit (6,025 m) - High Camp
The big day. Early departure (2-3 am) to take advantage of the firm ice. We ascend via the elegant Southeast route, a technical and sustained climb with snow and ice slopes of up to 55 degrees. The final ridge, airy and spectacular, leads us to the coveted 6,025 m summit. From the top, the view of the Cordillera Blanca is simply breathtaking. Careful descent to the comfortable High Camp. Meals included - Breakfast, packed lunch, tea, dinner
