Itinerary

Day 1:Huaraz - Pitec - Laguna Churup - Huaraz

The adventure begins very early with pickup from your hotel in Huaraz at 6:00 a.m., heading towards the picturesque town of Carhuaz and then to the village of Hualcán, the entrance point to the valley. We arrive at the Shonquilpampa gate, where we begin the hike ascending parallel to the Chucchún River, surrounded by imposing rocky walls and high Andean vegetation. The first landmark is the Rajupaquinán lagoon, a water mirror reflecting the first snow-capped peaks. From here, the trail becomes more demanding, ascending in switchbacks until reaching Laguna 513 (4,450 m), located right at the foot of the imposing Hualcán peak (6,350 m). Its deep turquoise waters, surrounded by ice and rock, create a magical setting. We will enjoy free time to rest, have lunch (own lunch), and take unforgettable photographs. We begin the descent back to Shonquilpampa, where the transport awaits us for the return to Huaraz, arriving at approximately 5:30 p.m.

? What should I bring for the hike?

It is essential to bring appropriate clothing for changing weather conditions - several layers (including thermal clothing), waterproof jacket, trekking pants, hat, gloves, and sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses).
