Tour Laguna Llanganuco

The full-day Llanganuco Lagoon tour includes a visit to the towns of the Callejón de Huaylas, the Yungay Cemetery (a city that was destroyed in the 1970 earthquake and avalanche). The tour also visits Chinancocha Lagoon, located in the Llanganuco Valley between the Huandoy and Huascarán mountains. The tour is ideal for people who do not want to make much effort to be in touch with the nature of the Cordillera Blanca, as almost 90% of the route is done by vehicle.

FAQ

? What level of physical condition do I need to visit Nevado Pastoruri?

The visit to Nevado Pastoruri is of moderate difficulty due to the altitude (5,200 m). The walk from the parking lot to the base of the glacier is short (approximately 30 minutes one way), but the effort is felt due to the lack of oxygen. No previous mountaineering experience is required, but it is essential to be well acclimated in Huaraz (at least 2 days) and to have a basic level of physical fitness. People with heart, respiratory, or blood pressure problems should consult their doctor before making the visit.

? What should I bring for the Pastoruri excursion?

It is essential to bring very warm clothing (several layers, thermal and waterproof jacket, hat, gloves, scarf), as the wind and cold are intense at 5,200 m. You also need high-protection sunscreen, UV filter sunglasses, personal water, energy snacks, and a camera. Optional - portable oxygen if you are sensitive to altitude. Lunch is included (usually at a local restaurant), so you don't need to bring food. Breakfast is not included, so we recommend having a good breakfast in Huaraz before leaving.
