Trek Olleros - Chavín - Pre-Inca Trail to Ancestral Mystery

This trek combines the best of the Cordillera Blanca with the magic of Peruvian archaeology. Traveling along an ancient Pre-Inca road, the Olleros - Chavín route crosses high mountain landscapes, traditional villages and the imposing Yanashallash Pass (4,700 m), culminating in a guided tour of the archaeological center of Chavín de Huántar, a jewel of the Chavín culture and World Heritage Site. A unique experience that connects nature, history and spirituality.

Itinerary

Day 1:Huaraz (3,052 m) - Canrey Chico (3,700 m) - Sacracancha (4,080 m)

Departure by private vehicle from Huaraz to the small village of Canrey Chico, the starting point of the trek. We begin the walk ascending gently through the ravine, surrounded by Andean landscapes and the warmth of its inhabitants. The trail, part of an ancient Pre-Inca road, leads us to the Sacracancha campsite, located on a plain with views of the surrounding mountains. Meals included - lunch and dinner

Day 2:Sacracancha (4,080 m) - Paso Yanashallash (4,700 m) - Shongo (4,088 m)

Challenging but rewarding day. We ascend gradually towards the highest point of the trek, the Yanashallash Pass (4,700 m), from where we get impressive views of the Shongo ravine and the distant snow-capped mountains of the Cordillera Blanca. We descend towards the green valley of Shongo, setting up our camp next to a small river of crystal clear waters. Meals included - Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Day 3:Shongo (4,088 m) - Jato - Chavín de Huántar (3,150 m) - Huaraz

Last day of gentle descent through the valley, following the course of the river until we reach the town of Jato, where our transport awaits us. We travel to Chavín de Huántar to take a guided tour of the impressive archaeological center, exploring its underground galleries, the Lanzón Monolithic and the clava heads. After lunch, we return to Huaraz, arriving in the afternoon. Meals included - Breakfast, lunch

FAQ

? What level of physical condition is required for this trek?

The Olleros - Chavín trek is of moderate difficulty. Daily hikes are 4 to 7 hours, with an ascent to the Yanashallash Pass (4,700 m), the highest point. Good physical condition and familiarity with hiking at altitude are required. It is recommended to have completed at least 2 days of prior acclimatization in Huaraz or the Cordillera Blanca before starting the trek.

? Is it necessary to have camping experience or can we rent all the equipment?

It is not necessary to have previous camping experience, but it is recommended. We provide all group equipment, camping tents, dining tent, toilet tent, kitchen and utensils. Participants must bring their own sleeping bag (suitable for sub-zero temperatures) and sleeping pad. If you do not have this equipment, you can rent it in Huaraz before departure.
