Itinerary
Day 1:Huaraz - Ichic Ulta - Huaraz
Our expedition begins in the city of Huaraz. At 2 a.m., we depart and head north along the Callejón de Huaylas until we reach the town of Shilla, heading directly towards Punta Olímpica. Passing through the tunnel, we reach our starting point for the climb. Here we will begin our ascent of Nevado Ichic Ulta. We load our mountain equipment into our backpacks and, after a 1.5-hour approach along the moraine, we will reach the glacier. At this point, we will get equipped, and our guide will inspect everything necessary for the ascent. The climb begins with a 20-meter slope (60°). After overcoming this section, we will traverse the plateau of the mountain until we reach the next slope of 50 meters (65°). Finally, after 3 hours of climbing, we will reach the long-awaited summit to enjoy a splendid view of the mountains of 4 different ranges - Blanca, Huayhuash, Hualcán, and Negra, a privileged characteristic of this snow-capped peak. We will remain at the summit for a prudent time to rest, hydrate, and take photographs. Finally, we will descend along the same ascent route until we reach our vehicle to be transported back to the city of Huaraz, where we expect to arrive at 3 p.m.
